Coronavirus Hits NAI
March 14, 2020
The North Allegheny School District found out at 2:10 on March 13, 2020 that they would be cancelling classes beginning on March 16, 2020 and tentatively resuming classes on March 30, 2020 due to the coronavirus. During these two weeks off, students are to complete FID’s (flexible instructional days) beginning on March 17, 2020. For many students, their academics as well as all sports, are being negatively affected by these new, but necessary, implemented rules. Down below are just a few of these students that have had important events or trips cancelled.
Will Mensch, sophomore, plays for the varsity hockey team who found out just hours before their semi-final game that their game, and season, is postponed.
“The coronavirus has affected the hockey team very much. First off, our playoffs have been postponed until further notice. We don’t know if we will even be able to finish our season. It’s really sad because our season could be done and we don’t know it. We are all very upset and hope that this will blow over. Until then all we can do is try to stay healthy and in shape. We all really hope that this virus won’t be the end of our season.“
