Mr. Hull
“I want to be you when I grow up! I look up to you so much you are such a strong inspiration and influence. I loved going to English class and learning not only about books but also about life! Thank you for being the greatest ever!!! – From Halle the Hippo”
Halle Marsalis, Sophomore
“I’m so thankful that I was able to have you not only for Journalism and English this year, but to consider you a friend. I admire Mr. Hull so much as he is just THAT good of a person. I don’t think in twenty years I will look back on my high school classes and think about what analysis I made or what papers I wrote, I will think about what actual life lessons I’ve learned. I’m very proud to say that he has taught me the example of being a good human being, the best life lesson. I hope that in my life I’m as good of a teacher as he is.”
Marissa Granite, Sophomore
“I appreciate Mr. Hull because he puts his students first. He never hesitates to talk to us if something is going on and works to build a genuine connection with each student.”
Gloria Wang, Sophomore
“I really want to thank you for being such an amazing English teacher (literally the best English teacher I’ve ever had). You have taught me how important it is to actually write from your heart and not write something with a lot of vocabulary. You made me understand that any writing should really flow as a story. You are such a strong and kind person. You have been such a huge impact in my life in a VERY good way. Thank you so much for being such an amazing teacher!”
Vaishnavee Sundararaman, Sophomore
“I had Mr. Hull 3 times in the past two years and he made the biggest impact on me and all of his students. He changed the way I think about the world and taught me how to treat people with kindness and respect. He made journalism so interesting and kept me on my toes of what story I should write next. He was a fantastic teacher and I will miss him and his class so much!”
Maisy Wadlow, Sophomore
“He always checks in on us to make sure we are doing okay. He gets involved and truly cares about us.”
Madyson Cieszynski
“When I think of ‘progressive education,’ I think of Mr. Hull. As I walked in the first day of English, I had no idea what to expect. After the first class, I was pleasantly surprised. Mr. Hull has shown me that the current education system and genuine curiosity are not mutually exclusive. I admire how strong-minded and cognizant he is — aware of when to say no and let go. He inspires me to become an educator of sorts (someday) and empower younger children to do and be better.”
Victoria Ren, Sophomore
“Mr. Hull is not only an amazing teacher but also an amazing person. He cares about his students beyond the classroom. He gives us updates on his life outside of school which makes him seem more like a friend then a teacher.”
Jackie Kelly, Sophomore
“Oh Lord. Where do I even begin? Coffee? Freshly made pizza dough? I still remember when we got our schedules at the twilight of summer I was so happy to see Mr. Hull on mine. That’s how much of an icon he is. As high as my expectations were for his class, Mr. Hull still shattered them and completely morphed my attitude towards English. He’s always kept class engaged whether it be with the amazing in-class discussions we have, the videos we watch and the activities we do, or even if it’s a dreary day and he wants to talk about his pizza oven and kimchi. I think before a teacher most of us view him as a friend because that’s the approach that he has had as a teacher. Mr. Hull has always been there to go to for advice, a ranting session, or just talk about anything that’s on your mind. Because of that, so many of us have loved him as a teacher and loved his class too. He’s made room for everyone in his classroom no matter how good or bad they are at English, or how much they love or hate it. Some of my best memories from the school year will be from his classroom and from the amazing journalism trip that he coordinated even though I’m sure we didn’t make it any easier on him. I hope you’re reading this Mr. Hull because it’s been awesome to have you as a teacher.”
Zayaan Tirmizi, Sophomore

“I have had Mr. Hull as an English teacher for the past two years and he has made my experience at NAI well worth it. Mr. Hull always has something to say whether funny or incredibly thoughtful its something worth listening to. I would look forward to his class every day and I’m going to miss having him as a teacher next year.”
Anna Kegel, Sophomore
“Thank you so much for being such an awesome teacher. I am always so excited to come to your class, and I really appreciate the hard work you put into all of your lessons. It is really cool how you connect our different novels and texts that we are reading in class to each other and more importantly real life. I have learned so many important life lessons in your class and it is very meaningful. Thank you for always being there for all the students and loving what you do, as it makes the class even more special. I will really miss being in your class next year, and PLEASE HAVE A PIZZA PARTY!”
Sarah Sharar, Sophomore
“9th grade was a tough year for me and he was always there to talk and he is an amazing teacher, someone I wish could be my teacher all throughout high school.”
Nina Pope, Sophomore
“Mr. Hull is the kindest, most caring, and passionate teacher I know. He’s always so friendly with not only his students but anyone and everyone he sees. He radiates his energy to others and is super relatable so everyone loves their relationship with him. I just want to thank him for everything and I will definitely miss him going off to NASH.”
Lindey Glinoga, Sophomore
“Mr. Hull is hands down one of the best people I’ve ever met. His passion for writing and education can make even the most indifferent students excited for his class every day, and he helped me realize how much I love to write. I will forever be so grateful that I’ve had the chance to be his student!!”
Samantha Podnar, Sophomore
“Mr. Hull has supported me throughout the year with encouraging me to voice and write about things that I’m passionate about, and I’m forever grateful for that!”
Dani Benavides, Sophomore
“Mr. Hull has really made a big impact on my first year at NAI. He is one of those people who can always put a smile on my face when I am having a bad day. He has always been open to his students, and he is never afraid to let us know what is going on in his life. Mr. Hull also gives his students a chance to be creative by giving us so many different opportunities that can appeal to the many personalities at our school. He is a teacher who will take his time to get to know each one of his students’ names, and learn who each of them are on a personal level. He always knows what is going on in the world, and he is never too shy to share his own opinions. Mr. Hull is one of my favorite teachers I have met in my 10 years at North Allegheny, simply because he is not just a teacher, but he is an incredible friend to everyone he knows. I cannot wait to spend another year listening to his dad jokes, his random singing, and even his small lectures. Thank you, Mr. Hull, for always knowing when to say the right things and being an amazing influence on my freshman self.”
Dylan Dayton, Freshman
“Mr. Hull is my rock. I can talk to him about absolutely anything. I can go to him for advice, technical help, or just whenever I need a laugh. If I did not have Mr. Hull’s classes twice a day every day, morning and afternoon, I don’t know how I would’ve survived my sophomore year. I’ve learned so much from him. I don’t think I would be where I am today or on the track I am going on without his influence or guidance. He deserves all the love and appreciation in the world.”
Jess Daninhirsch, Sophomore
“Unfortunately, I’ve never had the honor of being one of Mr. Hull’s students, but through the journalism trip as well as through friends, I’ve gotten to know Mr. Hull and I am so grateful for him. One of my first interactions with Mr. Hull was after he saw a project that I had completed for a different class. After seeing the project, he offered to let me come to Washington DC in November as part of the journalism convention, an experience I will never forget. Mr. Hull has consistently shown me kindness, support, and guidance, providing me with opportunities that I never would have had if he didn’t believe in me so much. Without a doubt, Mr. Hull is an outstanding teacher and is a friend to all students at NAI. He welcomes anyone and is incredibly open-minded and empathetic. I can’t express with words how much I look up to Mr. Hull and how much I aspire to be a person just like him when I grow up. Thank you so much for absolutely everything, Mr. Hull!”
