Emily Wincko
NAEye: What are some Thanksgiving traditions you and your family celebrate?
Emily Wincko: Every year on Thanksgiving morning, we try to do some type of exercise, whether that be running around the neighborhood or going to a spin class. We always eat fairly early, like around noon. As soon as we are done eating, we’ll all pass out on the couch and watch Christmas movies. Thanksgiving always marks the start of Christmas for us so we always put up all of our decorations that day as well.
NAEye: Which Thanksgiving tradition is your favorite?
Emily Wincko: My favorite Thanksgiving tradition is eating early because that most likely means that we can eat again as a late dinner.
NAEye: What food does your family typically eat for Thanksgiving?
Emily Wincko: We like to spice it up sometimes and add some variation but we always include the basics– turkey, stuffing, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, corn, and mashed potatoes.
NAEye: What is your favorite part of Thanksgiving?
Emily Wincko: My favorite part of Thanksgiving would probably be eating all of the food- of course- but also spending time with family and friends.
NAEye: How has celebrating Thanksgiving this year changed due to the pandemic?
Emily Wincko: We usually host at our house and invite some of my aunts, uncles, and cousins. This year, it was only the three of us which was definitely a little strange. Because most of our plans got canceled this year for Thanksgiving, so my parents decided it would be the perfect opportunity to clean the whole house, top to bottom… not exactly my favorite holiday activity.
