Abby Birch: Exciting

The newspaper trip was one of the most exciting things I have ever done. Getting to ride a bus with a lot of my friends to Washington DC, away from all parents, siblings, and school was thrilling in its own way. But driving through the streets of the nation’s capital to our hotel made my heart leap out of my chest. I was looking forward to this trip for months, but being actually there was different. Opening the door to the hotel room, realizing how close everyone’s room is to each other, and having a sense of even a little more independence was exhilarating. During the entire trip, everything was exciting. Touring NPR, the Newseum classes, the FBI tour, and the tour of the Capitol Building, even riding the metro was fun. The entire trip was such an exciting experience and I hope we get to go again next year.
