The End of an Era

The final show of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour took place on December 8, 2024 at the BC Palace in Vancouver, British Columbia. The Era’s Tour which began on March 17, 2023, in Glendale, Arizona spanned across five continents and 21 countries for a total of 149 shows. The length of the tour, as well as the number of stops contributed to it becoming the highest grossing tour of all time, selling over two billion dollars in tickets, with over 10 million fans attending. This number was confirmed to The New York Times by Taylor Swift’s Touring, the singer’s production company.

The length of the concert spanned over three and half hours, travelling through all of her musical career. The setlist included over forty songs placed into ten distinct eras. In total, Swift spent over five hundred and twenty hours on stage which is the equivalent of over twenty-one days straight. In May 2024 the setlist was rearranged to include her eleventh studio album The Tortured Poets Department. The production of this tour was unrivaled. Over ninety trucks hauled the stage, costumes, and other equipment for the show. The complex stage had three separate pieces connected by one main ramp with a giant screen in the back. It showcased countless visuals with mobily blocks that rose up and down for a cool effect. The tour also featured a diverse set of props to convey the mood of Swift’s albums. A Broadway production, the tour was described as a 4D experience. But perhaps the most important piece was Swift’s fifteen incredible backup dancers, six instrumentalists who have been with her for years, and four female backing vocalists, who stole the hearts of countless fans.

Another stand out piece of the tour was Swift’s wardrobe. From Versace, Roberto Cavalli, Alberta Ferretti and countless other these outfits were unrivaled. Her outfits and those of her accompanying dancers, along with guitars and microphones, connected to each of her 11 albums. Throughout the course of her 149 shows Swift wore over 60 different outfits. Fans even began guessing what outfits Swift would wear each night through an App. Some even went as far as recreating her outfit to wear for their concerts.
