My advice to anyone struggling with their schedule is to try classes that are both interesting and challenging. High school is a great starting point for seeing what your limits are and how far your abilities can take you. The four years leading up to graduation should have you excited to learn, and it’s easier to do if you’re interested in what you’re learning. Take classes that YOU want to take, regardless of who else may be in them or what others may think.
The main skill you want to have going through any decision-making process is self-awareness. It is important to know yourself and your overall goals when thinking about classes or careers – even if they seem really broad. Nobody knows you better than yourself (no matter what your mom may say) so it’s important to cultivate the relationship you have with yourself. Think about what you love doing and how it could translate into a career or a lifestyle; nowadays you can really make a living doing anything.
