NAEYE: What sport do you play?
AJ: I play Water Polo.
NAEYE: What grade are you in?
AJ: Im in 9th.
NAEYE: When did you start playing?
AJ: I started in 6th grade.
NAEYE: Why do you continue playing this sport?
AJ: I enjoy playing water polo and spending time with my friends on the team.
NAEYE: Do you play any other sports? If so, which ones?
AJ: Yes, I also swim
NAEYE: What is your training/ conditioning like?
AJ: We usually start with some strength training in the weight room and then we get in the pool and swim. After that we will either keep on swimming or start to do passing and shooting drills.
NAEYE: Do you feel successful in your sport?
AJ: No, I do not feel that I am successful yet.
NAEYE: What is your offseason like? How do you keep in shape during it?
AJ: During the offseason I like to spend time with my friends, but the club team starts practicing shortly after the season ends and the swim team also practices after water polo season ends so I don’t get much downtime.
NAEYE: What is the hardest part of your season and what challenges you most in your sport?
AJ: The hardest part of the season and what challenges me most is that we are playing against mostly seniors and juniors. They are usually bigger, faster, and stronger than us so it takes a lot of work to keep up with them.
NAEYE: How do you prepare for your games/meets?
AJ: I usually do some stretching and warm up.
NAEYE: Do you feel pressured to succeed in your sport?
AJ: I do because the coaches expect us to do well.
NAEYE: What about your sport brings you the most joy?
AJ: What I enjoy the most is when I am covering one of those bigger, stronger guys and I shut them down completely.
NAEYE: What is your favorite pregame meal?
AJ: I like to eat cereal before my games.
