“Midnights, the stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life, will be out October 21. Meet me at midnight.” – Taylor Swift

The upcoming tenth studio album from American Singer, Songwriter Taylor Swift is on its way, and fans couldn’t be more thrilled.

Swift announced the album in her acceptance speech for Video of the Year at the 2022 VMAs, where she revealed the release date. Telling the crowd before she walked off stage, “And I will tell you more at Midnight”. That night at Midnight Sharp, Taylor announced the album title via her instagram and twitter.

This album announcement came as a surprise to fans, mostly due to the fact Swift has been  in the process of re-recording her first six albums.  This after she tried to negotiate with her record label Big Machine to own her own masters and was turned down.

So in 2019, Swift announced that she would be re-recording her earlier albums, starting with Fearless (Taylor’s Version) in June of 2021, shortly followed by Red (Taylor’s Version) in November 2021.

Midnights will have a total of 13 new tracks, which is Taylor’s favorite number, including one new bonus track plus two remixes off the album. With Swift’s longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff being confirmed to be producing the project.  Midnights will be split into an A side and a B side, with fans speculating each side will have different vibes to them.

On September 21, 2022, Swift began a series on Tik Tok that she called Midnight’s Mayhem with Me, where she would announce the tracklist at midnight sharp.  The series works like bingo, she rolls a ball out of the cage, each of which has a number labeled 1-13, then revealing the title of the song correlating with each track number.

Track 13 “Mastermind” was the first to be announced. The series concluded with Taylor sharing the final 5 track names in videos posted hourly on October 7, 2022.

A vocal collaboration with Lana Del Ray was revealed, being the only collaboration featured on the album. Swift voiced her excitement on working with Del Ray in an instagram short talking saying the song, “‘Snow on the Beach’ featuring Lana Del Ray is track four on Midnights and I cannot get through that sentence without grinning because I am such a massive fan of Lana Del Ray.” In the same clip Swift also calls her, “one of the best musical artists ever”.

Midnights is being called “One of the seasons most anticipated projects” by Time magazine. The promo leading up to the release has been bigger than ever and fans are thrilled to hear what Taylor Swift has planned for her long awaited tenth studio album. Make sure to stay tuned and listen to the entirety of Midnights on October 21st.
