It may seem far away, but the winter break is coming up. With that many people will probably see a movie, but which one? For many movie fans, it will definitely be Avatar: The Way of Water.

Avatar originally came out in 2009 and it was a big hit. It is currently the highest grossing movie with a box office of 2.922 billion dollars. Avatar was a huge hit with stunning visuals and fun characters. Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña) were the two main characters of the film. Jake Sully was a human who would frequently go into his Avatar form. From there he became close with Neytiri and learned many things about the Avatar and the way of their life. 

The reason it took Avatar: The Way of Water so long to actually come out was because of the visual effects. The writers stated that they were really trying to focus on other biomes of Pandora, and creating the characters and creatures fit to live in each one. It took them 5 years to finish these effects. Hopefully the wait is worth it. 

Avatar: The Way of Water is set to come to theaters on December 16th. Not only is Avatar: The Way of Water exciting many fans across the world, but the news of the cast returning has many fans excited as well! Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldaňa both reprise their roles as Jake Sully and Neytiri. A surprise is that Sigourney Weaver is back again. Many remember her character dying after Colonel Miles Quaritch shot her. However, she’s coming back as a different character, Jake Sully and Neytiri’s daughter. 

Kiri is the 14 year old daughter of Jake Sully and Neytiri, and from the looks of it she may have a pretty large role in the plot. In the trailer she is heard saying, “Dad, I know you think I’m crazy. But I feel her. I hear her heart beat. She’s so close.” This just begs the question who is “her.” Jake Sully then asks what her heart beat sounds like, and Kiri answers with, “Mighty.” So whoever this mysterious woman is, she may be a major character in the new film. 

Another exciting thing about this movie is the new creatures it is expected to introduce.  Avatar originally introduced the Banshee. The Banshee was such a big hit with fans, that Disney World even put a Banshee ride in Animal Kingdom. With the introduction of the water of Pandora, there may be some exciting creatures in there. We can expect to see some new creatures because of the trailer and even the company Lego. It may come to a surprise, but Lego has released sets that are based on the second film. These sets have new creatures that we haven’t seen before. 

Many remember the fun battle scene at the end of Avatar. Colonel Miles Quartich was obsessed with finding unobtainium and bringing it back to Earth. If he brought it back to Earth he thought that he would be able to save the human race. This resulted in a battle between the Avatar and Colonel Miles Quartrich. The battle was exciting with mystical creatures versus mechs. We can expect the same from Avatar: The Way of Water.

Towards the end of the trailer it shows the Avatar getting ready for battle. It’s not clear who it’s against, but it looks intense. With things exploding in the background, many fans have high hopes for this fight scene. Not only does it look intense, but it also looks emotional. Movie fans in general love emotional and intense fight scenes. 

With all of this information, it seems like Avatar: The Way of Water will be an action packed movie, just like the first one. With plot twists and turns just awaiting to be found. Hopefully Avatar: The Way of Water does just as well as Avatar.
