As an NA Student, I have always considered North Allegheny to be an amazing school. Not only for academics, but also for the sports and the community around it. But, I never really considered how it would rank among other schools.
In a recent survey conducted by Niche.com, they surveyed thousands of school districts across America to see where they would rank among different categories. Some of these categories include best for athletes, best districts, largest, best places to teach, and best teachers.
In the Best Athletes category, North Allegheny ranked #2 in America and #1 in Pennsylvania. Here at NA, it is widely known how good of a sports program we have. Whether it is a chilly September Friday night football game, or a freezing January evening basketball game, the sports department checks out on all categories of competitiveness, athletic ability, and a lively student section.
If you were to ask any North Allegheny student whether they felt their school population was small or large, there is a very high likelihood that they would say it is very big. Surprisingly, North Allegheny ranks #25 for largest in PA. Although, some of the schools that ranked higher were primarily cyber schools. Most cyber schools do not limit the size of their classes, unlike NA, who has to be conscious about class sizes and they make sure not to overfill schools.
North Allegheny is one of the best places to teach, and the Niche surveys prove this to be true. Out of almost 11,200 districts across America, North Allegheny ranks up at number 99. As far as best teachers, NA ranks number 31 out of 11,116 different school districts across the country.
At NA, it is an honor to be recognized for how good of a school we are. North Allegheny Superintendent, Brendan Hyland, said “We believe that if you build an environment where all employees feel they can improve every day — not because they have to, but because they want to — the sky’s the limit for what we can do as a District.”
As a district, we should be proud and grateful for what we have and that we have access to such amazing academics, athletics, and teachers who we can rely on. We should be grateful for what North Allegheny has to offer, because some places around America are not as fortunate.
