Advanced to Quarterfinals

Netherlands: Netherlands powered past USA by doing the best thing they could, exposing their weakness. They capitalized on US’s lack of a prominent striker. Despite having much less possession time, they were able win and move on.

Argentina: Argentina’s veteran leader and all time great Lionel Messi powered Argentina past Australia in a 2-1 win. Messi has 3 goals so far in the World Cup amd is looking for more.

Croatia: Croatia won a thriller against Japan which is a contender for the best game of the World Cup. It was tied 1-1 going into stoppage time but eventually went into a shootout, and came away with 3 goals to 1.

Brazil: Brazil plowed straight through South Korea with a 4-1 total domination. One of the key factors in the game was the return of Neymar, one of Brazil’s best of all time. He scored a goal in his return after suffering an ankle injury in their first game.

England: England powered through Senegal with a decisive 3-0 win led by leader Harry Kane who had his first goal of the World Cup.

France: France led by the young superstar Kylian Mbappé, who led France to a World Cup victory last World Cup, had 2 goals against Poland as they look to repeat as champions.

Morocco: Morocco won another thrilling match against Spain as they advanced on a 3-0 shootout victory after finishing overtime at 0-0. This was one of many upsets in this World Cup.

Portugal: Portugal obliterated Switzerland but this wasn’t the main storyline. Cristiano Ronaldo was benched for this game, and his replacement in his first World Cup start had a hat trick. Look out for more Portugal drama as the games progress.

Eliminated from Round of 16

US: The US’s hopes to make their legend even more legendary was erased as the Netherlands wiped away their dreams with a decisive 3-1 loss.

Australia: Australia lost a close game to the powerhouse Argentina. Argentina was in control in most of this game and it showed. Australia had a late goal but it wasn’t enough to save their hopes.

Japan: Japan lost a heartbreaking match as they almost came away with one of the greatest upsets this World Cup. They went into a shootout tied 1-1 and lost 3-1 in a shootout.

South Korea: South Korea was overmatched against Brazil as they lost 4-1. They were dominated in just about every part of the match and it most definitely didn’t help their chances at advancing.

Senegal: Senegal was an underdog going into their match against England. They lost 3-0. England’s defense was amazing, limiting Senegal to only 1 shot on goal.

Poland: Poland was eliminated from the World Cup with a 3-1 loss to reigning World Cup champions, France. They scored their only goal in the final minute of stoppage time.

Spain: Spain lost to Morocco in an embarrassing match. Going into a shootout at 0-0, they followed that up with a 3-0 loss in the shootout.

Switzerland: Switzerland was eliminated in one of the biggest losses in World Cup history. A 6-1 loss to Portugal, who happened to be without Ronaldo, is embarrassing.
