Modern-Day Titanic?
The front of the bus wasn’t the only thing that arose from the downtown sinkhole… Countless memes also arose from this event.
On October 28th, 2019, a Port Authority bus was swallowed by a sinkhole on 10th Street and Penn Avenue in downtown Pittsburgh around 8:00 AM. What a way to kick off a Monday, right?

This event made national news. Fortunately, only one passenger was aboard, along with the driver, and neither of them were seriously hurt, though the passenger is being treated for minor injuries.
The sinkhole will take months to be repaired, causing 10th Street to be closed in the meantime, as well as surrounding businesses and restaurants.
However, this did not turn out to be your average bus-swallowed-by-sinkhole situation. Memes have been quick to circulate the internet, many of which have been poking fun at potholes as a commonality in Pittsburgh and comparing the bus to the Titanic. Here are a few memes that have been spotted:
