The process of adding a new word to the dictionary is not a very difficult one. The first step includes a dictionary editor finding a word that has entered many people’s lives and can be used in today’s world. When an editor finds a word, they must cite the source they discovered it from.

The Merriam Webster dictionary has near to 17 million citations. There are people working at the Merriam webster to judge if words would be used if added to the dictionary.
